This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Dublin International Film Festival. They plan to present roughly 130 films from all around the globe as well as promoting Ireland’s best and brightest. The festival itself runs all across Dublin from The Savoy to Cineworld and the Irish Film Institute.
Since its beginning all of 10 years ago, JDIFF has showcased some of the world’s leading actors such as Gabriel Byrne, Charlize Theron, Colin Farrell, Liam Neeson, Daniel Day Lewis and Brendon Gleeson.
At this years launch Swedish actor Stellan Skarsgard (Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and Good Will Hunting) was present and awarded a Volta, the festival Career Achievement Award. Also at the launch was Irish actress Amy Huberman who stars in Stella days the Irish feature film at the festival.
The festival kicks off with the film Cloudburst starring Irish actor Brenda Fricker and closes with Ian Fitzgibbon’s Death of a Superhero. In between another 130 films will be presented. Surely something in there for everyone.
